With the Kansas City Chiefs’ 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers last season in Super Bowl LVIII, superstar tight end Travis Kelce secured his third ring.
The 2024 season will see Kelce and the Chiefs chasing after an elusive three-peat while also adding what would be ring No. 4 for Kelce.
However, comments made on Tuesday’s episode of NFL Live by ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter may have led to some speculation that a different kind of ring could be in Kelce’s future. As fans of football and pop culture are well aware of, the seven-time NFL All-Pro has been dating 14-time Grammy Winner Taylor Swift since at least September of 2023.
While marriage talks have been a frequent topic amongst fans, it’s unclear when Kelce is expected to pop the question.
However, when the NFL Live crew was talking about Kelce’s new racehorse named “Swift Delivery,” Schefter made comments about Kelce also purchasing a wedding ring.
“I have a question,” Schefter said after host Laura Rutledge joked about it not being a ring purchase. “Laura, Laura. How do you know that know Travis Kelce didn’t buy an engagement ring?” When Rutledge replied that she didn’t know, she also asked Schefter if he knew any news about the situation.
A question that led to him smiling mischievously and a clarification. “I’m just saying you said that he didn’t buy an engagement ring,” Schefter said.
“I’m just wondering how you had that information.” Clearly, Schefter knows something about the power couple, but unlike his free agency or trade announcements, he didn’t divulge even when pressed by Booger McFarland.
“The awkward silence right there speaks volumes,” McFarland said. “Schefty, do you know something?” A question that Schefter swiftly dodged. “All I did was ask a question about how Laura knew he didn’t buy an engagement ring,” replied Schefter.
While there is no timetable on when they are actually getting married, Cosmopolitan reported that Kelce asked Swift’s father, Scott, for his blessing back in December of 2023.
There was also a belief that the two would get engaged sometime during this summer, ahead of the season. However, on May 21, Us Weekly reported that Kelce didn’t have proposal plans “anytime soon.” Clearly, they are trying to keep it private, but that doesn’t mean fans and analysts alike won’t speculate.
