After making an appearance in a teaser for Ryan Murphy’s new FX series Grotesquerie, Travis Kelce has been called a “nepo boyfriend.”
The NFL athlete made a fleeting appearance in the first-look video on Thursday. The guy has been dating Taylor Swift, one of the most powerful women in the entertainment business, since last summer.
The video includes unsettling images of boiling water in a swimming pool, a meat grinder, religious crosses, and a person striking victims with a hammer.
The horror drama’s star, Niecy Nash-Betts, is heard remarking, “I’m not sure how it started.” It appears as though a hole leading to nothingness has opened up in the world.
The three-time Super Bowl champion momentarily made an appearance on screen toward the end of the video and waved his hands in front of his face.
‘First nepo boyfriend,’ remarked one fan, echoing the notion of ‘ok Nepo boyfriend.’ Another person said, “I suppose because your boyfriend is Taylor Swift.”
A fourth fan joked, ‘Not him doing side quests in his break.’
Although Kelce’s exact position is still unknown, he has already spoken out about feeling like a “amateur” on set.
In a May New Heights podcast episode, Travis said to his brother Jason Kelce, “It’s been so much fun.”
‘I feel like a jabroni, I feel like an amateur, but I haven’t gotten fired yet,’ he went on. ‘They haven’t told me to f**king kick rocks after the first week.’
The tight end called the series “quite a mystery” but stated he didn’t want to “give away too much” about the story.
“Everyone has been incredibly helpful in putting me at ease and providing me with the guidance and coaching I need to play this role,” he went on.
“I’m very amateur at this, so I’m just taking it scene by scene and making sure I remember my lines.
“Along with sharing a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his time on set with Nash-Betts, Kelce expressed his amazement that Murphy offered him such a significant role.
The athlete said, “He seemed really confident that I could do this and he injected that [belief] in me the first conversation we had.” I’m so grateful to him for this chance. He trailed off, saying, “I’m sure there are actors out there that would kill for an opportunity to work with Ryan, and I’m getting it in my first gig ever… hopefully I don’t f**k it up.”
