Travis Kelce‘s dad, Ed Kelce, has clarified to fans and followers a comment he made aboutKanye West’s mental health. On August 8, the Cleveland native, 52, voiced his initial reaction to West’s song name-dropping Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift — labeling it as “Mental illness on full display” in a post on his Facebook page.
One week later, Ed shared a Sports Illustrated article covering his original response, clarifying his previous statement about the rapper. “I feel the need to clarify that my comment on Kanye West was not so much a criticism as it was my thoughts on his mental health.
His behaviors and comments beyond Taylor indicate a paranoia and over-inflated sense of self worth,” Ed wrote via Facebook on Thursday, August 15. Swift and West, who was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder, have been embroiled in a feud for more than a decade.
Continuing, he stated, “While it would be easy to attribute his actions to drug use, throughout history there’s been no shortage of clean and sober people displaying the same traits.
This is a talented guy and hopefully he’s getting help with these issues.” Last week, West dropped his new album, Vultures 2, which features the song “Lifestyle” – on which Lil Wayne raps, “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce.”
Since Ed’s calcification on Thursday, fans have taken to the father-of-two’s page to show support for his clarification – with one fan sharing, “All good Ed, we knew what you were saying, [and] never change Ed, we love you down under in Australia.”
Another commented, “This is why your boys are so sweet….you’ve showed them how to be.”
“Well said,” a third person posted, opining,”Some people don’t understand or want help, we just have to pray for him.”
