Rare insight into his brother’s relationship with the ‘Karma’ singer was provided by the former Eagles center.
In an uncommon statement regarding his brother’s romance with Taylor Swift, Jason Kelce revealed what he believes to be “the greatest thing” the “Karma” singer has done for Travis Kelce in their more than a year of dating.
In the latest installment of the NFL legends’ New Heights podcast, a discussion concerning various food kinds—many of which Travis, it turns out, steers clear of like the plague—finally prompted Jason to commend Swift’s influence on the “picky” Chiefs player.
It all began when, just hours before his new job as an analyst on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, Jason surprised fans by showing up early to tailgate before the Kansas City Chiefs vs. New Orleans Saints game. He had previously done the same for the team’s playoff game against the Buffalo Bills and this season at a Philadelphia Eagles tailgate.
Living it up before the game, he tried a few different foods and declared that a cheddar bratwurst was “the best thing” he had eaten there because he hadn’t expected the cheese to be inside.
“The moment I bit into it…was just a magical moment,” he recalled. However, Travis isn’t one for “cylindrical meats” like sausage, and things quickly devolved between the brothers.
“You’re out on a cheddar brat?” Jason asked in shock when the younger Kelce brushed off the meal. “What on earth are you out on a cheddar brat for?”
“Anything in, like, a casing like that, I’m out,” Travis replied.
Before going on to other options, the two got into a heated debate regarding whether or not they cooked sausages without a casing. Jason told Travis he was “missing out” because of his hesitation.
After Travis finally acknowledged that he was “beginning to open up” to new possibilities, Jason exclaimed, “I know! You’re opening up, my girl Tay!”
“She is,” Travis agreed.
“She’s introducing new foods to you and it is one of the greatest things that I’ve been happy about,” Jason added.
Swift is a bit of a foodie; she almost never shows up empty-handed. Before events and tournaments, the singer is rumored to bake goodies like cinnamon buns and handmade pop tarts. In some rare home video, she may even be seen cooking alongside the athlete. (However, Kelce opted not to divulge additional personal information regarding their culinary adventures.)
