Jason Kelce Says Wife Kylie Requires Him to Work Out 3 Days a Week ‘Otherwise She Doesn’t Want to Deal’ with His Mood

Jason Kelce is sharing the rule that his wife Kylie Kelce makes him abide by in order to maintain happiness in their home!

The former football center for the Philadelphia Eagles, 36, disclosed during an appearance on Green Light with Chris Long, which was released on Friday, August 9th, that his wife, 32, had instituted a rule requiring him to work out “a minimum of three days a week, otherwise she doesn’t want to deal with me.”

Green Light co-hosts Long 39, and Beau Allen then began talking with Jason and the other podcast guest, fellow retired NFL star Brent Celek, about why exercise is important for former NFL stars.

Long — who retired in 2019 after playing 11 years in the league — empathized with his former Eagle teammate, saying that part of the reason retired football players “struggle” when they leave the game is that they’re “accustomed to a certain amount of physical activity.”

Exercise affects “dopamine” and “how you wake up in the morning,” according to the podcaster.

Jason, a father of three, agreed. “When I’ve worked out, I am in a great mood. I interact well with my kids and everybody….just I’m a better person,” he said.

By contrast, he said if he has to skip a workout he feels like he’s “not really being productive for the day…like you’re missing something.”Jason Kelce Says Wife Kylie Requires Him to Work Out 3 Days a Week 'Otherwise She Doesn't Want to Deal' with His Mood

The athlete clarified in a PEOPLE exclusive interview in June why he knew it was time to retire following the 2023–2024 NFL season, despite the fact that he still has to exercise for his physical and emotional well-being. The athlete had been mulling retirement for the previous four years but had ultimately decided against it.

“And after stepping away this year, it just was more and more evident after the season that my body is telling me to stop,” he said. “I don’t think I could play another season at the way I want to and the way that’s going to make me happy.”

Regarding the future of Jason and Kylie’s family, the pair, who tied the knot in 2018, have both made references to the prospect of welcoming a fourth child into the union.

“It’s not my decision,” Jason exclusively told PEOPLE in July. “We’ve talked about, before having kids, having certain numbers but I think whatever Kylie’s comfortable with.”Jason Kelce Says Wife Kylie Requires Him to Work Out 3 Days a Week 'Otherwise She Doesn't Want to Deal' with His Mood

Field hockey player Kylie mentioned the idea in an interview with The Strategist, a website published by New York Magazine.

“We’re rotating through clothes we bought for our first daughter now to our youngest, so we have gone through a lot of hand-me-downs,” she said. “The Hanna Anderson PJs last forever. We still have some packed up, just in case there ends up being a fourth.”

The couple currently shares daughters Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 16 months.
