The frontman of Darkness responded to the viral video on Monday on TikTok, sharing his happiness about taking his family to an Eras Tour show in Switzerland. Yes, Justin Hawkins has seen the video of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce singing along to his band’s song, and he’s also obsessed with it.
“I woke up this morning and everybody’s forwarded me some footage of ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ being played at the US Open,” Hawkins began. “And Taylor Swift and her partner, Travis, dancing along to it and really enjoying the music.”
Hawkins then released video of the exchange, which shows Swift and Kelce dancing to the 2003 rock tune on Sunday, September 8, while watching the US Open men’s final. Swift is seen in the video mouthing the line, “I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day,” and pointing at Kelce. In further video, the Grammy winner is seen dancing to the music and mimicking an air guitar while her NFL player partner grooves beside her.

“It was a really heartwarming moment for me and my little girl can’t wait to go tell her friends at school,” Hawkins continued. “So thanks Taylor, thanks Travis. Thanks everybody who enjoys tennis. That’s a really lovely start to the day. Nice one guys.”
Hawkins waxed poetic about his encounter with Swift during a concert in Zurich, Switzerland.
“The hospitality they showed us was extraordinary,” he shared. “They put us in a lovely VIP area: I had Chris Rock on one side, Roger Federer on the other side. I was dad of the year.”
He continued by saying that it was at the concert that he discovered Swift’s fondness for a certain Darkness song.
“To make matters even more spectacular, Taylor Swift actually sent me a lovely letter which was waiting for me in the VIP section, talking about how much she loves the song ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love,’” he said. “I was dad of the year, maybe dad of the century, because all of that was a big surprise.”
“Justin, what a thrill to have you at the show!” said the disputed note. “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” is one of the best songs ever written, and I’m a huge admirer of yours. Swift has positively impacted Hawkins’ standing with his daughter’s peers in addition to having a noticeable impact on The Darkness song’s Spotify performance. The band’s total streams increased by about 60% worldwide on Monday between the hours of 12 a.m. and 12 p.m., according to Variety. In the United States, the song “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” saw a nearly 70% increase in streaming during that same period.
It turns out that Swift is a known admirer of the song and that she once performed a dance to it for an Apple Music commercial with the slogan “Dance like no one’s watching.”
