Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs lead the AFC at 11-1 entering Week 14, but the All-Pro tight end is having one of his poorest statistical seasons in his 12-year NFL career. This comes as rival defenders continue to focus on Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target, and as age may start to set in. Kelce, who turned 35 in October, has 75 catches, 637 yards, and two touchdowns on 101 targets after 12 games.
He’s never had fewer than four touchdowns in a single season, and his 53.1 yards per game average is his lowest to date. Fourth-year backup Noah Gray, who received a three-year, $18 million agreement in September, has come on strong recently, scoring four touchdowns in the last three games, but there has been speculation that the Chiefs may invest more resources in finding Kelce’s potential replacement this offseason.
“It’s time for the Chiefs to start planning for life after Travis Kelce, who will turn 36 next October,” Easterling wrote, noting that Kelce is due to become an unrestricted free agency in 2026. “One of the best kept secrets in this year’s class, Fannin is putting up insane numbers this season, and his athleticism and versatility would make him the ideal understudy for Kelce.”
Giving Patrick Mahomes another explosive weapon at tight end would be a great success.” Fannin, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior, set eight Bowling Green records in 2024, including a conference-high 100 catches for 1,342 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fannin, a semifinalist for the Mackey Award (most outstanding tight end) and the Biletnikoff Award (most outstanding receiver), is widely regarded as a possibility, with Bleacher Report comparing him to Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely.
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce has returned to the booth to sing for his brother Jason’s new Christmas record, and the retired Eagles icon released a music video for the song on Friday. In October, the brothers published a teaser video for the song, ‘It’s Christmas Time (In Cleveland Heights)’, and fans praised Travis’ performance.
And fans now get a complete taste of the tune after Jason praised his brother for giving his vocals for the second year in a row. ‘Travis has graciously agreed to assist out and sing on our Christmas record for the second year, and this year it hits extremely close to home, in a dedication to our hometown,’ Jason wrote on X.
I hope you enjoy the music video! You may assist Operation Snowball here. The song will be on The Philly Specials’ third and last album, which will feature Jason, Lane Johnson, and Jordan Mailata, all of whom are former Eagles. Travis waxes lyrical about his birthplace of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, in the song, which also features iconic R&B duo Boyz II Men.
‘Wanderin’ the streets of my hometown/It’s been years since I’ve been home,’ he sings. The record, ‘A Philly Special Christmas Party,’ is set to be published on November 22 and will feature a number of stars. Stevie Nicks, The Roots and more have all contributed to the album, which follows ‘A Philly Special Christmas Special’ last year.
In November, Philadelphia indie rock band Mt. Joy (who will also be on the album) and the retired Kelce put a festive spin on the band’s debut single ‘Astrovan’.
