As fans are well aware, Travis Kelce’s internationally famous girlfriend, 14-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift, was in attendance for the game. She had not attended either of the Chiefs’ previous two games, both of which were played on the road. Difficulty in coordinating proper security measures was the reason given for her absence.
She also did not attend Kelce’s 35th birthday party on Saturday night.
Of course, rumors abounded that the couple was on the rocks. However, her presence at the game on Monday night dispelled these rumors and, thanks to ESPN broadcaster and Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman, spurred new ones.
Fans may recall that Aikman referred to Swift as “the Mrs.” on Monday night, spurring rumors that the couple had gotten engaged and/or married in secret. Later, on the Paron My Take podcast, the Pro Football Hall of Famer said, “Someone actually reached out to me today and said they might actually be engaged.”
The only problem, of course, is that they are not.
Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce Addresses Taylor Swift Engagement Rumors
TMZ recently debunked Aikman’s claims that Kelce and Swift had gotten engaged, quoting a source that said, “It’s not true, and the recent erratic and unfounded speculation on this couple is just proving that media and overzealous fans do not know what’s going on with them and shouldn’t make wild assumptions based on zero facts.
“Two days ago everyone had decided they were broken up, now they’re allegedly secretly engaged? It’s whiplash-inducing.”
One would have to assume that, if or when Kelce proposes to Swift, it will be done during the offseason when both of them have a lot more time on their hands.
Both stars are so busy right now, with Kelce in the midst of the regular season and Swift preparing for the conclusion of her Eras Tour.
An engagement now does not make much sense. Still, given the popularity of both stars, such rumors are likely to continue popping up for the duration of the season.
Such is the price of fame.
