NFL Legend Offers to Take Care of Travis Kelce’s Potential Punishment

NFL Legend Offers to Take Care of Travis Kelce’s Potential Punishment

Following two straight games on the road, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs have returned home to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium as they host the Las Vegas Raiders in the only NFL game on Black Friday. Both Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are on the verge of breaking team records.

The two-time MVP quarterback would break the Chiefs’ all-time passing touchdown record with one against the Raiders, passing Hall of Famer Len Dawson.

For Kelce, if he gets one receiving touchdown on Friday, he will break former Kansas City tight end Tony Gonzalez’s record (76) for the most touchdown receptions in Chiefs history (any position) with the 77th of his career.

Prior to the game, Gonzalez, now an NFL analyst for Amazon Prime, took part in the “Black Friday Football” pregame show. While discussing the possibility of Kelce breaking his record, Gonzalez admitted that he would be willing to pay a potential fine if Kelce used his goalpost slam dunk celebration, which is now off-limits in the NFL.

“So happy for [Kelce],” Gonzalez said. “He is one of the best tight ends to ever do it on and off the field. To watch him grow, I’ve been following him since he was a rookie, and I’m not surprised by it. A lot of history is going to be broken out on this field today… If he dunks it, I will pay that fine.”

Kelce has put together a Hall of Fame career of his own. Since he joined the Chiefs in 2013, the tight end has tallied 975 catches for 11,897 yards and 76 scores prior to Week 13.

Along with Mahomes, Kelce has also brought Kansas City three Super Bowl wins, including a back-to-back in the 2022 and 2023 NFL seasons. Kelce has also made nine Pro Bowls and seven All-Pro teams and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade team.

Kelce and the Chiefs look to defend their title and pull off the first three-peat in NFL history. Through 11 games, they have still proven that they remain one of the league’s best, boasting the top record in the AFC at 10-1.
