When Rob Lowe was in his heyday in the ’80s, he could hardly go anywhere without a police escort. His experience with fame was so intense that recently, the 60-year-old actor compared it to pop superstar Taylor Swift.
The Outsiders star, also a member of the Brat Pack, opened up to People about what it was like for him during the height of his fame.

“I remember them having to bring me on and off the set in a police car, and that wasn’t the first or only time,” he told the publication of filming St. Elmo’s Fire. “People breaking into my grandparents’ house in Ohio thinking I was going to be there.”
Other “crazy” incidents involved a fan who illegally entered Lowe’s home and stole his underwear and having to call the police on screaming fans waiting in the snow overnight during a ski vacation.
Lowe added, “Today it would be [Justin] Bieber, Taylor Swift, I don’t know if it’s Austin Butler, whoever it is today, there’s always going to be somebody living that life.”
In addition to relating to Swift, Lowe recently praised her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s new gig as host of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? “I love that show. I love the original version,” Lowe told Extra on the red carpet for the 2024 ESPY Awards on July 11. “I think he is the perfect host for it. That show is gonna be sick.”
