Travis Kelce was desperate to wrap up his postgame media duties for the Chiefs and watch Taylor Swift’s last ever Eras Tour show on Sunday night, the popstar’s fans are convinced.
Swift was performing her Eras Tour finale in Vancouver at roughly the same time Kelce and Kansas City were taking on the LA Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs emerged victorious on the night, with a last-second field goal enough to seal a 19-17 win and clinch the AFC West title. As for Swift, she brought the curtain down on her international tour in front of a sold-out crowd at Vancouver’s BC Place, which was the 149th and final concert she played across 53 cities worldwide.
Kelce, who has been to an incredible 14 Eras Tour shows since he started dating the songstress last year, was unable to attend the finale in Canada because of his NFL commitments.
And according to Swift’s die-hard legion of ‘Swiftie’ fans, the Chiefs tight end clearly didn’t want to be carrying out postgame interviews while his girlfriend’s big concert was going on.
One of Taylor’s loyal followers shared a photo of a gloomy-looking Travis talking to reporters in the locker room and concluded: ‘He does not want to be there’. Another user commented: ‘Let that boy get his friendship bracelets and merch on’. ‘He just wants to see blank space on livestream,’ wrote a third.
A fourth posted: ‘He was NOT missing 1989 omfg get that man home to see blank space one last time’. While another quipped: ‘He’s like “politely guys f*** off please I wanna go home and watch my girl”’.
The good news for Kelce and Swift is they can now spend more quality time together with her Eras Tour now over. With more time on her hands, Taylor now has the option to attend more of Travis’ Chiefs games after attending just five so far in 2024, which is less than she did at this stage last year.
She has four more chances to see Kansas City play in the regular season, though only one of them is a home fixture at Arrowhead, with the Houston Texans due to visit on December 21.
The other three remaining games come on the road against the Cleveland Browns (December 15), Pittsburgh Steelers (December 25) and the Denver Broncos (January 5).
Swift is yet to attend a Chiefs road game this season, despite travelling away to the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens last year. She also famously watched on from the stands at Super Bowl LVIII, before kissing Kelce on the field after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime.
Thankfully for her fans – and for the Chiefs, considering they win almost every time she’s in attendance – Kansas City is on the verge of clinching home field advantage for the entirety of the playoffs.
