Taylor Swift has donated $5 million to Feeding America’s hurricane relief efforts in Florida.
The ‘Karma’ hitmaker has received acclaim for her “generous” assistance to those devastated by Hurricane Helene who are currently getting ready for Hurricane Milton, another natural disaster. She is scheduled to begin her ‘Eras’ tour in the state next week.
“We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous $5 million donation to Hurricane Helene and Milton efforts,” tweeted the nonprofit organization Feeding America.
“This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms.”
“Together we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead.
“Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”
While Hurricane Milton, which at the time of writing was classified as a Category 4 hurricane with winds of about 130 mph, is expected to have disastrous impacts on Florida’s western coast, Hurricane Helene left a path of significant destruction and the deaths of over 230 people in its wake.
Meanwhile, in December, Taylor contributed $1 million to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to support families whose homes and livelihoods were damaged by the storms and tornadoes.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Taylor, 33, relocated to Nashville as a teenager in order to pursue her musical career.
The funds will cover the cost of food, makeshift lodging, cleanup, and other expenses.
Following fatal tornadoes that claimed lives and destroyed houses in March 2020, Taylor gave $1 million to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.
“It is devastating to me that so many people in Middle Tennessee have lost their homes,” she stated at the time, referring to Nashville as her home.
On her “Eras Tour,” the Grammy winner has also made donations to organizations that fight hunger in the cities.
