Taylor Swift expressed her affection for Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld after the couple announced their engagement on social media this week. Last Friday, Buffalo Bills quarterback Allen proposed to Steinfeld, the American actress and singer he has been dating for nearly 18 months, by dropping down on one knee in a gorgeous seaside setting and asking her to marry him.
The couple confirmed their big news a week later after sharing the same photo of his proposal on Instagram, with their combined post receiving nearly two million likes at the time of writing. The music megastar, who is dating an NFL player herself, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, liked Allen and Steinfeld’s engagement post to convey a very discreet congratulations.
Her boyfriend had already congratulated football rival Josh and his fiancée well upon the announcement, with Travis liking the post and posting ‘Congratulations’ alongside applause and raised-hands emojis. Swifties were quick to notice Kelce’s statement, and many of them shared their reaction on social media.
Fans of the vocalist almost immediately responded to his comment, predicting he would be the next NFL player to acquire a ring. ‘You next,’ other respondents to the comment, which received over 2,500 likes, advised. ‘I see you,’ and ‘Trav, your move,’ read others from a couple of overly enthusiastic members of the singer’s fan base.
‘You wish that was you, right,’ another social media user wrote, implying Kelce was about to pop the question to the 14-time Grammy winner. Allen and Steinfeld were first seen together in May 2023, shortly after the former split from his longtime girlfriend Brittany Williams. Steinfeld, who made her breakthrough with an Oscar-nominated performance in True Grit, was finally spotted with her new man in New York City.
They’ve since spent time in Mexico and during Paris Fashion Week, but Allen and Steinfeld have mostly kept their relationship private. Kelce and Swift, meanwhile, have been dating for more than a year, after the music icon publicly acknowledged their relationship by attending a Chiefs game for the first time in September 2023.
She rejoined her man at Arrowhead on Friday to cheer him on as Kansas City defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 19-17. Swift arrived at Arrowhead just before the Week 13 game dressed in her normal red costume, and she was joined by Kelce’s mother Donna on her trip to the VIP suites after enjoying a romantic Thanksgiving with her beau.
She has attended every Chiefs home game this season, and Friday was her sixth appearance in the VIP suite at Arrowhead in 2024.
