Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has made his thoughts on a hypothetical gay teammate in the National Football League extremely clear.
The three-time Super Bowl-winning tight end, who is dating iconic music star Taylor Swift, made it very clear that he would be fully supportive of a gay teammate.
He said that all that matters is if they can play or not, sexual orientation shouldn’t matter. “Anybody in this world [can play]. I’m comfortable with who I am and I expect everyone to be comfortable with who they are. I respect people for their views and opinions,” Kelce told reporters back in 2019.
Kelce, thankfully, is one of several notable NFL players to show support for potential gay teammates. The NFL hasn’t had too many publicly out current or former players, but perhaps that’ll change down the line.
“Their personal preference is who they are as a person. It’s not going to affect anything. They’re still who they are.
I’m going to treat them the same way,” former NFL quarterback Nick Foles has said. The 2024 NFL season is set to begin on Thursday, Sept. 5 when the Chiefs host the Ravens. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. E.T. The game will air on NBC.
