Travis Kelce Shares the Stories Behind 2 Childhood Nicknames

Travis Kelce’s Blunt Admission About Big Career Move

Travis Kelce has been one busy fellow. Apart from being one of the top tight ends in the game today, the Kansas City Chiefs star also made a big career move in the offseason by taking a stab at acting and hosting. Kelce is now part of an FX horror series entitled “Grotesquerie,” where he plays the role of Ed Laclan — a hospital orderly who flirts with the show’s main character, Detective Lois Tyron (played by Niecy Nash).

On top of that, Kelce is also hosting Prime Video’s “Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?” which is a spinoff of the classic gameshow “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?”

In a recent interview with Jenny Taft of “Extra,” the nine-time Pro Bowler got brutally honest about balancing his new career path with his day job as a tight end for the two-time defending champions.

According to Kelce, he’s just making the most out of the opportunities that have come his way. “When you win the Super Bowl, doors open for you,” he said. “I think that I’ve enjoyed playing football my entire life, but when you know you get the chance to play for a championship year in, year out, it’s the best feeling in the world.

“So, I’m a football player at first, but everything I do in the offseason is a fun, I guess, yin to the yang. You gotta have the balance in life.” The 35-year-old then went on to make a blunt admission about accepting the reality that sooner or later, he will need to call time on his decorated career.

“On top of that, football is going to end for everybody,” he said. “So I just gotta make sure that I’m set up for what’s next.” The good news is that Kelce still has a number of good years in him before he begins seriously considering retirement.

Based on the Chiefs’ 5-0 start to their title defense this season, it also would not be a major surprise if Kelce ends up adding a fourth Super Bowl ring to his collection (or more?) before it’s all said and done.
