This season, Travis Kelce is dead-set on winning three straight Super Bowls.
However, in recent months, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs has been conscientiously preparing for life after he leaves the NFL.
Kelce’s Chiefs deal is set to expire in two more years. In addition, as his Hall of Fame career comes to an end, he has actively pursued several lucrative business and acting chances.
Despite their hectic schedules, the NFL legend is also making sure that his relationship with music sensation Taylor Swift only gets stronger.
Here’s a peek at Kelce’s strategies for maintaining his notoriety once his playing career ends.
With the two-year agreement he inked in April, Kelce will be the highest paid tight end in the NFL. The 34-year-old’s contract was first set to expire in 2025.
According to reports, Kelce’s new contract is for $34.25 million, including a guaranteed $17 million for 2024. “I’m so fricking thankful to (general manager) Brett Veach, (president) Mark Donovan, coach (Andy) Reid — Big Red, I love you, big guy — and obviously (owner) Clark Hunt,” Kelce stated on New Heights.
“I’m gonna love the next two years playing here in Kansas City, and we’ll see what happens after that, but I am so excited and so thankful to this organization for getting it done and making me feel appreciated and compensated the right way.
“On top of that, I got to move the needle for the tight end room.”
Though it’s unclear if Kelce will play once his two-year contract expires, it doesn’t seem like he plans to hang up his cleats just yet.
“I really can’t put a timeframe on [retirement],” he told reporters.
Kelce went on to add that he plans to keep playing “until the wheels fall off.”
He added: “Hopefully, that doesn’t happen anytime soon.”
