As she began the last leg of her famed “Eras Tour” concert series on Friday, Taylor Swift was overcome with emotion. Friday was the first of three gigs she would be doing in Vancouver. Before formally ending the nearly two-year, five-continent tour on Sunday, she performs once more on Saturday night.
Swift opened up to BC Place’s capacity audience at one point during the performance. The 34-year-old talked about how her devoted followers helped her decide to embark on such a lengthy tour.
“I’ve never played more shows on tour or toured longer than I have with the Eras Tour,” Swift said, via Us Weekly. “There are so many reasons for that, like, nobody’s backstage saying, ‘You gotta do more shows.’ I decided to make this tour the longest I’ve ever done because you have made this feel like so much more than a concert tour in so many ways.”
The singer of “Fortnight” continued to open up on how having her fans at her shows transports her to a unique place that she has never experienced before.
“I’ve been going on tour since I was 15 years old, and this has felt different in every single way,” she said. “It’s felt like this escape to a planet where nothing but joy and passion and togetherness and camaraderie exists every night coming out to these crowds.”
A prior story claimed that Swift is already experiencing “super emotional” feelings as her tour draws to a close. She’s “leaning” more than ever on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, because she expects this to be a “difficult transition” for her.
Her girlfriend’s work has received a lot of encouragement from the three-time Super Bowl champion. Despite his hectic schedule, he has seen several “Eras” performances in the last year or two.
This included a brief visit to Indianapolis on November 2nd to see his girlfriend perform at Lucas Oil Stadium. After that, the nine-time Pro Bowl tight end had to return to Kansas City to play in the Chiefs’ home game against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 4.
According to reports, Swift and her parents welcomed Kelce and his family to the Grammy Award-winning singer’s Nashville home during Thanksgiving. After the feast, Kelce had to return to Kansas City since the Chiefs would be playing the Raiders again on Black Friday.
Now that Swift’s tour is coming to a close, Kelce will need to support her even more. Kelce is expected to play a significant role at this pivotal point in both her career and personal life, and she already understands that the shift won’t be simple.
